On Friday we held a mufti day to raise money for for the Red Cross to send to Japan to those affected by the earthquakes and tsunami. The students dressed in red and white and in the afternoon particpated in some fun and informative lessons. These included origami, writing names their names in Japanese, eating with chopsicks, writing prayers on balloons and making a kimono out of newspaper.
As part of our Inquiry learning in Room1, the students learned how to make a solar oven and planned to cook pizzas in them. Unfortunately the weather was not agreeable and the pizzas had to be cooked in an electric oven. The students learned a great deal about how solar energy works and the importance of working together in a team. Check out the story of the solar ovens and the yummy pizzas! What Is Skiing At Mt Lyford?
Peering out the window seeing rock pierced snow peaks that will soon be enclosed by a white substance called snow.
Observing dwarf like people disperse over the vast snow blanketed mountain peaks
Ploughing through and around sleek corners and intersections traveling to the virtually vertical sloped T bar
Layering myself in snow while tumbling down the snow trail that will take me home
Ascending up the last tow to my voyage home reminiscing about the dwarf like people layering myself in snow peering out the window and stopping at intersections
THAT IS SKIING AT MT LYFORD
On Friday we held a mufti day to raise money for the people affected by the Haiti earthquake.
Well done to everyone who made the effort to dress up in an International Costume. Thanks also to Father Eric for donating a fishing rod to be raffled.
We raised over $200 which is a fantastic effort for our school.
